I just downloaded Cakewalk (I used the downloadable exe and not the assistant), setup POL to act as a windows 10, used the shared winasio. Using PlayOnLinux, Wine stage 6.7 and Mono (latest version proposed by POL).
There are a wealth of articles including how-to details for popular new features. Re: Cakewalk (updated free Sonar from Bandlab) is almost working. Look especially for links to the Tech + Music publications listed in the 2017 monthly update announcements, as well as the older eZine.pdf publications prior to that. There is also a lot of info on these pages announcing the introduction of new feature in Platinum as they arrived, covering the period from 2015-2017. The creative experience only Cakewalk by BandLab offers: advanced technology, effortless workflow, and an interface that amplifies inspiration. I'm sure most of the X3 info still applies to the core Platinum and CbB, with the exception of coverage for new or updated features since 2015. The Sonar user manual is mostly a reference guide, other than a few tutorials, which are highly recommended for new users. And the reason for much of the 'buzzword bingo' on the Linux forums. I believe that the majority of the Linux community are programmers or system admins. Its a con for those who dont like having to use a program to install and update another program. There are no current plans for availability on other operating systems. Also a chapter on basic editing, and one on advanced editing. By comparison, Linux servers are powering the majority of the internet and cloud computing servers, and has been a huge success. Cakewalk by BandLab is currently available exclusively for 64 bit versions of Windows 7, 8, and 10. It has a chapter on soft synths, and two chapters on effects. I have owned several versions of that, including the latest X3 version, and it is always a nice alternative to have for some how-to instructions or a refresher on a rarely used topic.
